We have enthusiastic and energetic leaders in Kits-Fairview District. Many of our adult members are new to Guiding while others were girl members. We also have leaders who have been involved with Guiding for many years, lending their expertise and skills.
Girls and leaders meet once a week from September to the end of the school year. The leaders work together, bringing their own strengths and interests to the group. It could be a passion for camping, rugby, baking, science, music, or making hats for the homeless - every opportunity enhances the girls' experiences.
Leaders go to weekly unit meetings, plan activities and crafts, and occasionally attend weekend sleepovers and camps. We also have adult members who help by organizing events and supporting the District. In addition, we welcome non-member volunteers to support units as occasional helpers.
You can find information about the different age groups and activities on the National website:https://www.girlguides.ca (at the bottom of the main page under "Branches")
The membership application process is straightforward. The application form asks for your current contact information, any past experience with Guiding, and references. You must also complete a police record check through BackCheck, as well as participating in a screening interview.
Getting involved with Girl Guides is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in girls' lives, as well as being personally rewarding!
